For questions, factual corrections, case submissions, and requests to remove a page.
Write with the subject line “Removal” and the link to the page. What happens next depends on who is asking, so please say which of these applies.
If you are the patient described, or the parent or legal guardian of a patient who is a child, the page comes down. We do not ask you to justify the request. We may ask one question to confirm the page is the right one, and nothing beyond that.
Where the case comes from a published medical paper or from reporting you took part in, the same applies. Consenting to publication once does not oblige anyone to stay published here.
Tell us which material is yours and where it was originally published, and we will remove it while we check. If we have used something we should not have, we take it down and say so on the page. If we believe the use is licensed — several images here are published under Creative Commons terms that permit reuse with attribution — we will explain which licence we relied on rather than simply refusing.
That is a correction rather than a removal, and it is handled below. Being wrong is a reason to fix a page, not to delete it.
We read every request. We do not remove accurate, properly sourced material because a third party would prefer it were not published, and that includes institutions, employers and companies whose products or care are described in the medical literature.
Where a request falls outside the categories above, we will reply with our reasoning. If you disagree, say so and we will look again.
Include the timeline and the outcome. Do not send anything that identifies the patient: names, exact dates, locations, or images with distinguishing features. If you are the patient, say so, and tell us how much detail you are comfortable publishing.
If something on the site is wrong, point to the page and tell us what it should say. We correct it and note the change at the bottom of the page.
